Jeffrey Charles Palmer

Countertenor, had his debut as a soloist at the age of nine, singing the Pie Jesu from the Fauré Requiem Mass. Described by American operatic tenor Paul Groves as possessing “a beautiful voice and on the track to success,” he has performed in venues across the globe, including the Theatre Royal Bath in England, Knock Shrine in Ireland, the Hefei Grand Theatre in China, and San Francisco’s Kanbar Center, Boston’s Jordan Hall, and New York’s Steinway Hall in the United States. He has collaborated with jewelry line Erickson Beamon on four New York City fashion week shows, leading him to be hailed as “ethereal” by English journalist and Vogue editor-at-large Hamish Bowles, and has lent his voice to presentations with visual artists such as Andres Serrano, Joan Snyder, and Jennifer Wen Ma. Musical collaborators have included violinists Timothy Fain and Yijia Zhang, pianist Riko Higuma of Zodiac Trio, singer/songwriter David Fox, and cellist Danny Bensi, with whom he can be heard on the soundtrack of the 2016 Netflix documentary Amanda Knox.

Noted performance repertoire includes Chichester Psalms by Bernstein, Les nuits d’été by Berlioz, Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, and the role of Frederick in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance. As a recitalist, he has received acclaim for his sensitive interpretation of pieces by composers including Handel, Barber, Britten, and Björk. In 2019, he released his first full-length studio album with pianist Riko Higuma for Blue Griffin Records, entitled Beauty. Spanning several centuries and genres, this album is a selection of arias, art songs, folk tunes, and contemporary works that each provide their own unique reflection on the idea of beauty.

Jeffrey holds a BA in music from Bath Spa University in England and is currently based in Brooklyn, New York.
